Such a strange game tonight for TFC.

Win and you win your group but you have to go to Miami this week to play

Lose the game and stay at home and host Tigres who won the group vs Miami.

@Deckie007 Tottenham closing a deal with Bournemouth to acquire 26yo striker Dominic Solanke for £57m + add on’s.

Had 21 goals across all competitions last year, four assists.

He’s been Ange’s #1 target this transfer window as he’s a real workhorse when it comes to pressing, has the size & ability to both be part of the link-up play when needed (did this more in the championship than the Prem, but had 18 assists over his final two years there)

Under a new style of play at Bournemouth this past year he wasn’t required to do that and was much more free to run in behind and be on the end of balls….(had 21xG….Son & Richarlison had 22 xG, combined)

I think he’s going to be particularly fond of working off Brennan Johnson, as the kinds of balls we see Brennan throw into the box, Solanke will feast on.

He’s also pretty pretty strong in the air and scores his fair share of headers.

For £57m tho, there’s lots of downside risk…..only had 6 goals year prior to last in the Prem, also is kinda good/very good at lots of things, without being elite at any.

Ange said this offseason though that striker is our biggest weakness, so if he’s a fan of Solanke….its hard not to be bullish on the signing, but man it’s a lot.

Chelsea drop £52m on Pedro Neto, scooping us…although don’t think we’d have gone that high.

Now we likely go all out for Eze, but I’m not sure Palace will sell.

Yeah, I agree. That's exciting news. 57M though, that's quite a lot.

Love this dude…..I’m not a anime guy per se, so don’t get all the references, but love how he does a bunch of his goal celebrations as shout outs to those who do.

He’s got such a good story too….was one of the best wunderkid English prospects of his generation while a youth player….goes through Chelsea’s system but then can never break through to the main squad as a teenager, similarly goes to Liverpool when they have one of the best front threes in the world, and can’t get much playing time there either…..then goes overseas, gets his minutes finds some pro success, comes back to England and lights up the championship, helping Bournemouth get promotion, (while scoring 29 goals)….had a solid first season in the Prem (6 goals 7 assists I think)….and then becomes only the 15th player in Prem history to pot 19 goal.

….and is still only 26.

Guy has a great attitude too…..him, Son, and Johnson are going to be a blazing front three.

btw @Deckie007 me and some buddies are doing a EPL fantasy league, it’s ultra simple FPL if you look it up…..we just play for fun, then at seasons end we all chip in ~$10 a piece and buy the winner a new kit of their choosing.

I got a Tottenham one a few years back…

It’s kinda like an arcade style of fantasy sports as it’s so basic/straight forward…..you get £100m cap, and need to make a roster of 11 players and a couple backups.

If you’re interested let me know….think you’d enjoy it. (Same for @zeke or anyone else if you want in)
