So uhh...we all knew this was coming

https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2019/feb/24/terry-miller-andraya-yearwood-transgender-sprinter/

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Andraya Yearwood hears the comments, usually from adults and usually not to her face.

She shouldn’t be running, they say, not against girls.

Yearwood, a 17-year-old junior at Cromwell High School, is one of two transgender high school sprinters in Connecticut, transitioning to female.

She recently finished second in the 55-meter dash at the state open indoor track championships. The winner, Terry Miller of Bloomfield High, is also transgender and set a girls state indoor record of 6.95 seconds. Yearwood finished in 7.01 seconds and the third-place competitor, who is not transgender, finished in 7.23 seconds.

Miller and Yearwood also topped the 100-meter state championships last year, and Miller won the 300 this season.

it's dumb.

we can talk about gender not being biological and that's fine.

but the division between men's and women's sport is solely biological.

But when you say this incredibly rational statement, the screeching starts because how dare you suggest that they're not a real woman, etc.

considering this group of people face the worst of society i think we can let them have a meaningless race victory

no problem

her life even with her third place finish is probably 1000x better than the winners

to me that statement is "but what about straight parades?!?!?!?!?!??"

eh, I disagree on this one. have you ever lost to someone who you felt was cheating at something, or had an unfair advantage?

I think it's unfair to the other competitors. but your initial point in this discussion isn't lost on me. I just don't see how to set it up so its equitable for all.

ya - i can see it from both sides and really there is no perfect answer

i just feel my default is to side with the most disadvantaged

but i consider the race meaningless
if the race was for Olympic gold... i have no solution

So we are going from the metaphorical oppression Olympics straight to the literal oppression Olympics? Gold medal for whoever is the biggest victim?

Common sense dictates that individuals who were born as males should not compete against individuals born as females.

Women deserve to have a level playing field which should not be encroached by those born as biological men.

Male to female transgender should also not have to compete against men. So the logical conclusion is to have another division for athletes. The transition division. Problem solved.

Except for the PC crowd. To say anything along these lines and to take any position other than transgender individuals can compete against whoever they want is to be labeled transphobic. So women will suffer for it.

The irony here being that women fought so long and hard for their own safe places to train and compete but seem utterly powerless against the trans community who are seen as more disadvantaged than the disadvantaged female community.
