OT: The News Thread

Hard to believe it took so long.

TBH I don't recall the details that made me feel he was innocent, but I do remember thinking he was innocent after listening to Serial.
Amazing podcast by the way (Serial Season 1), highly recommended.

I agree with you overall but there were a few factors that made him look guilty as well. Interesting case cause it could go either way.

@Habsy all set for Ian?

We got our power back after Fiona some time during the work day yesterday (about 80+ hour total outage for us). Our deep freeze was maybe the real hero of the hurricane as it kept most of our pet food frozen without power for over 48 hours (we then transferred to a freezer with electricity for the next two days).

As someone who I imagine has been through this type of ordeal once or twice, any tips or advice Habsy? Mrs. Wayward and I were discussing and really the only thing we could figure to do to mitigate against this type of risk is to purchase a generator (current house) / ensure we have power available not connected to the grid (when we buy a place).

Walking the pooch this morn you can definitely still hear generators and there are still so many trees/wires down.

That said, Fiona hit us with barely hurricane strength, and Halifax just got the edge. Cannot imagine what it will be like to endure Ian. I have a much greater appreciation for the folks who deal with hurricanes seasonally. Huge interruption to your life at a bare minimum, never mind the health/safety/economic impacts.

I know of a freedom fighter type that just bought property in Fort Myers. Still lives here but.. Man he just closed on it weeks ago. Was bound to happen at some point being in Florida and all but shit that's bad luck. Hope he has good insurance.

EDIT: of course the clips you see are where it's at its worst. He said he is in contact with people close to his place and it's just heavy rain there for now (so far).
