OT: The News Thread

Re: OT - The News Thread

why is he a turd?

he seems like a pretty funny dude, to be honest.

i'm not a fan of most of the stuff he has produced, but he's a damn talented guitarist and seems to not take himeslf too seriously.

Re: OT - The News Thread

listen, wopbasterd, i don't have 'my body is a wonderland' on my ipod or anything.. but the stuff he did was chapelle was pretty damn funny, and as far as his music is concerned -- there's a reason why a lot of really great musicians wanna record with the guy.

Right...

Re: OT - The News Thread

Anyone who plays guitar has respect for Mayer as a guitarist.

He might be a homo but the guy can rock out and some of his songs are exteremly difficult to master

Drunk Driving >>>> Islamic Terror

you are one sick, depraved puppy. now you are trying to say that drunk driving is more objectionable than a vicious terrorist attack that purposely set out to kill as many thousands of people as possible??

there's no other way to say it- you have no sense of morality whatsoever.

Re: OT - The News Thread

who, me or ME?

because you'd have to be joking or depraved to try to establish some kind of moral equivalency between drunk driving and 9/11.

Re: OT - The News Thread

I'm with the Jew. John Mayer is alright in my books.

He's pretty funny, and as far as pop music goes he's one of the best.

Not a superfan, but there are more deserving people to hate.

Re: OT - The News Thread

Except no one attempted to establish any kind of moral equivalency between the two. He was pointing out (quite clearly it should be established) that the notion of Islamic terrorism being this all-encompassing threat to Western society is surpassed by a fairly socially accepted (to a point) practice like drunk driving. And that the number of those killed in the 9/11 attacks was really a drop in the pond when one considers the leading killers in society. How did you not get that?

Re: OT - The News Thread

you're right. he wasn't trying to establish a moral equivalency, he was doing WORSE than that. he was saying

drunk driving > 9/11

again, if you can't see how wrong that is, you have a problem. individuals making stupid, selfish decisions that inadvertently end up killing themselves and others is reprehensible. a group of 20 conspiring to willfully destroy as many human lives as possible in an orgy of death and destruction as publicly as possible is about 1000x worse.

if you don't agree with that, then i'm sorry, you're just wrong.

Re: OT - The News Thread

Terrorism is incredibly wrong.

So is getting a horse to rape someone to death.

Neither happen particularly often in the US, though I don't have statistics for the latter.

That's ME's point. Is it a morally abhorrent thing to do? Yes. Does anyone actually sucessfully do it in the US often enough for it to deserve such emphasis as you give it? No.
