OT: The News Thread

Re: OT - The News Thread

I dislike the boarding as much as the next guy, international laws need to be followed. But I can only sympathize with the little guy surrounded by a group of bullies who want nothing more than to stomp the twirp out.

Re: OT - The News Thread

Problem is, the little guy is certainly a military bully and loves to ensure everyone knows it has the bomb but won't let anyone else.

It would take real talent to less accurately depict the truth without putting a conscious effort into it.

Israel spends approx 16 billion annually on defence + American assistance.
Iran spends about 8 billion
Jordan 1-1.5 billion
Syria spends about 5 billion
Egypt spends about 5 billion

The kicker is, former friend (at least through common alliance) Turkey, spends in upwards of 30 billion annually, and Saudi Arabia spends closer to 40 billion. By far the two largest defence budgets in the region.

For all intents and purposes, Israel is the big dog on the block militarily.

Re: OT - The News Thread

It's in the plans. One of the reasons I'm toughing it out in Fort Mac is that the work schedules typically allow for a shit load of traveling. I already have the idea of starting in Managua, taking 2-3 weeks to work my way down to P-City, checking out San Blas and then flying out from P-City.

Sure. And if it was 1on1 then they'd be fine.

Unfortunately for Isreal, it's them vs. the entire region.

Costa Rica and Panama are beautiful, but I'd even recommend starting a little bit more north of Nicaragua....

Antigua is a gorgeous little city in Guatemala that is worth spending some time in........and if you have the time, making it to Utila island in Honduras for some Scuba diving is a must.

San Blas is definitely right up your alley.......Panama City and San Jose though, are uber americanized, not worth spending more than a night in either location, imo.

No, it would be them and Uncle Sam vs the entire region if it came down to it.

and even if it was Israel vs "the entire region" (which would basically be Egypt, Syria, Iran and a few other minor players) Iran is the only one with nukes, has by far the best rocketry out of the bunch, the best airforce by a ****ing mile and the best weapons tech.

It's would be 1967 all over again, but with better toys.

Yeah, see...I don't scuba, and won't. But the rest of the advice is noted.

Meh, just have to see them really. Don't expect to spend much time anywhere along the way really unless if I come across a nice spot in Costa Rica I fall in love with. I'd hang out for a few days just relaxing and trying to sleep with spanish women.

Re: OT - The News Thread

See, that's a sharks house.

It wouldn't be polite to go to such a place uninvited

and I'm not going without a nuclear warhead on a spear gun

Re: OT - The News Thread

Scuba diving is the f*cking sh!t..........not to mention Utila is this tiny little island just littered with scantily clad young ladies from scandinavia and europe who go there to learn.

Scuba all day........party like f*cking animals all night, every night.......it's the best.

Utila's actually one place you have to be careful you don't get stuck on.......cause it's easy to go there and spend weeks and weeks on end, cutting into the rest of you trip.

Only thing really worth doing in Panama City is hitting up the Casino........free booze, free smokes.....and tons of easy local women.
