OT: The News Thread

Re: OT - The News Thread

No rational person thinks that blowing up buildings will accomplish anything but making their views look even more crazy in the eyes of the majority. Just like no rational person rents a getaway vehicle with their own credit card and driver's license.

KB was trying to draw parallels between building bombers with people who are left wing, critical of Isreal, etc. (aka lots of people on this board). It was a ridiculous thing to say.

Well supposedly only 9 people showed up to denounce Al-Qaeda but over 200,000 are eager to ban cartoons of Mohamed....really shows you where the priorities lie.

Apparently less than 14,000 people of the millions on Facebook feel that rape is never justified.

Facebook group stats prove next to nothing.

Re: OT - The News Thread

that whole "activist" subculture- left wing, narcissistic, intolerant-while-claiming-to-be-tolerant, pretentious, secularist, anti-semitic, anti-israel, is what is on display here.

In the same way that the whole "fundamentalist" Christian, right wing, holier than though, intolerant while claiming to follow the teachings of Jesus culture is on display whenever an abortion clinic goes up in flames?

Your brush could paint the width of the Mississippi and never fear it's edges getting wet.

huh? I never said they did. Just explaining what the photo was since you asked. I took it as satire.

i'm sorry, but if you don't think there's a line you can draw between people who are fanatically opposed to israel and pro-palestine and the sacks of plasma that conducted this bombing, than you're an idiot. they are cut from the same cloth and travel in the same circles, and this is perfectly exemplified by the company these three a$$holes kept.

You're suggesting that there's some connection between left-wingers/secularists/people who are critical of Israel (aka lots of people on this board) and people who blow up buildings. I just don't see it.

Sure, these crazies might have some ideas in common with a lot of people around here, but the big difference is 99.99% of those people don't think that blowing up buildings is a good way to get their message across.

This is why I said they should be defined by their craziness/stupidity, and not their politics.

Stroke of genius this is, connecting fanaticism, whatever the stripes, to stupidity and brutally.

Careful, wouldn't want you to strain something making that impressive stretch champ.

Re: OT - The News Thread

Timothy McVeigh's ultra right-wing, anti-government, pro-gun, misogynistic, anti-Semitic ideology sure shows us how dangerous people like KB can be. They are cut from the same cloth and travel in the same circles.

See how silly childish generalizations can be?

Not sure how to put this so that it will sink through KB's titanium skull, but a person can question how Israel conducts its business without being the slightest bit anti-Semitic or anti-Israel.

poor analogy. by no measure am i "ultra" right wing, i am not "anti-government", nor am i "pro-gun" or "anti-semitic". timothy mcveigh was a wack-job just like these idiots are wack-jobs.

The bombers were anarchists, which is a totally different political issue and circle from peopel on either radical end of the israel-palestine issue.

It's like trying to connect the abortion bombings to tea partiers. There may be some overlap, but the political issues that led to the action are basically unconnected.

The analogy couldn't be more apt. It is the exact same argument you were trying to make, in reverse. Perhaps now you will see how ludicrous it is.

Bull$hit. these guys were radical left wing "activists" who, according to reports here in ottawa, have been involved in "anti-poverty" and "social-justice" issues along with, you know, your garden variety "anti-israel" activities too. these guys ARE guilty of what i accused them of, unlike your analogy, where i am guilty of NONE of the things you accused me of.

Re: OT - The News Thread

You really do have serious reading and comprehension issues.

You weren't talking about that one nutcase. You were talking about an entire "subculture" of people - guilty by association in some way to a lone nutcase, a connection which exists only in your mind.

Just because one crazy person acts out, does not mean that anyone remotely similar to them or a particular "subculture" of which they may also have been a part is a criminal or murderer.

that whole "activist" subculture- left wing, narcissistic, intolerant-while-claiming-to-be-tolerant, pretentious, secularist, anti-semitic, anti-israel, is what is on display here.

Re: OT - The News Thread

if we were to take the subset of all those foreign (non-turkish or arab) lunatics on that "aid ship" and found out their political leanings and their past political activities, i bet you a huge proportion (95%+) of them would be:

-radically left wing
-secular "humanists"
-involved in other "social justice" activities
-at least mildy anti-semitic
-obvious very anti-israel

Re: OT - The News Thread

....oh, and these ottawa a$$holes would have been right at home on that ship, attacking paintball gun wielding troops with bars and knives.

Re: OT - The News Thread

Wow, why even post something so useless?

No offense, but it really isn't worth the server space it takes up. You owe Habsy 38 cents....

Re: OT - The News Thread

Your just babbling unprovable facts and it's rather dull.

I mean, really? Useless made up percentages that add nothing to your argument other than to make it weaker than it could be. There is nothing to refute there because you pulled it out of thin air.

Protesting a billion dollars spent on security is stupid now? Looks like the G20 protesters were right on target today. It's absolutely idiotic to hold a city hostage for a summit like this. If they are peaceful and protesting such waste, I can't complain about it.
