There's a lot of utility (not all of it nice) in being able to move money around without banks involved. Even ignoring the obvious fuckery that organized crime can get up to, people in legit shithole countries being able to get their money out of their local currency can be powerful.

Yeah, people that shit on Crypto (more specifically Bitcoin) are showing their financial privilege. Most of us can't imagine what it's like for people in these countries with corrupt governments fucking with their daily life. There is real utility as Mindz said. NFT are wild though and should be thought more of digital art than anything. I tip my hat to anyone that can make money with that shit, it's definitely not for me.
