OT: The News Thread

The only good thing that came from this closing act was that it kind of opened the flood gates on stories about what a piece of shit he's always been for those of us who watched as kids but also stopped watching as slightly older kids. I know that wrestling fans have known for a long time, but it wasn't what I would call common knowledge until way more recently.

The racism and maga stuff... But what else?

the racism isn't enough?

But just off the top of my head, selling out Jessie the body and the rest of the roster when they were trying to unionize would be enough on it's own. There's also a huge bag of stories from his days in wrestling detailing what an epic piece of shit he is to the people he worked with. Macho & Elizabeth, etc

If you were a Hogan ass-kisser you would make huge money. Companies had to keep paying Brutus Beefcake/The Disciple/Booty man big money for years to hang around. Jimmy hart too (And he just claimed Hogan was fine this week).

That Bubba Love Sponge wife thing was creepy.

Truth is his matches were bad in North America (He could wrestle much better than we think. He actually looked good in Japan).

It's enough. It was just known for quite some time.

Thanks. Never liked him. Even as a kid. But I came to wrestling after his peak.

that and I am pretty certain that over time (assuming science survives) we're gonna see some really interesting studies about how technology (mostly smartphones) changed how our brains are wired and work. I'm one of the last generation to go through high school without smartphones... having that tech as a teenager has to have an impact. I am very curious the nature and extent of it. anyways
The sheer lack of problem solving in the youth these days (again, not all but a staggering majority) is hard to comprehend but also understandable as they’ve had Google to tell them how and what to do through their formative years.

it's sad. I fucking love problem solving. critical thinking and problem solving are super key elements of my job. not to mention life skills...

I came to wrestling way before its peak. When I was a kid I watched the kind of wrestling that was filmed in a TV studio, not an arena, or Maple Leaf Wrestling from the Gardens. The stars of the day were guys like Angelo "King Kong" Mosca, Mad Dog Vachon, Dino Bravo, the Sheik, Andre the Giant, Haystack Calhoun, and Nick Bockwinkel.

By the time the WWF got big in the 80's I had moved on from kids stuff like rasslin' and comic books.

If they don't mugshot him with the mouse head on, that's not the Florida we all know and *love.

*It's like having a cousin you liked as a kid grow up to be a meth addict

A tragic ending for Dino Bravo:
