OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

yeah legit good this year. shockingly.

I could probably dig into his synergy stuff and pull out what he's doing different, but just looking at shot location stuff it's a weird mixed bag

- his % of assisted 3's are lower this year, but his attempts are way up to he's shooting more off of the dribble, he's just making more of them.
- He's pretty drastically reduced his "demar" range shots. 18% of his shots were between 16ft and the 3pt line last season. Just over 10% this year. He's shooting them a little better too (36%) than he did last year but it's such a bad area to take shots from that unless you're super efficient at them (Kawhi, KD) you're better off just not taking them.
- It looks like he's taken those mid range attempts and is pushing those into the lane. His attempts from 3-10 are up this year and he's hitting way more of them. I'd have to watch some Wolves games to see why he's jumped from making 35% in the lane to 49% of his makes, but it's probably a better ability to manage the contact that comes from getting inside the free throw line. He's always had a big frame but was pretty weak.

Remember when the coaching was Leo or Triano?

Best we had man. Nick Nurse is world class though and an honourary Canadian at this point. I don't think anyone coaching internationally is as good as he is unless Pop is coaching the US program again. Some of the Euro coaches are legit good too though. But Nurse is a top 3-4 coach in the best league on the planet. Huge edge, and amazing improvement over what we used to have, yeah.

Alex Kennedy ( whoever that is) said a Western Conference exec told him a top landing spot for Demar could be Toronto. Cost would be Serge or Marc and a 1st

Isn't Derozan putting up historically awful defensive numbers so far this year? To go along with him being a guy that was getting benched for the 4th quarter of playoff games when he was still wearing a Raptors jersey because of how awful he was at defending.

Kind of makes him the antithesis of the way this team's built and what they're all about now.

Im not opposed to movibg Serge and a pick for a Norm upgrade. I think RHJ and Boucher are good enough backup bigs.

Not for DDR tho

Terrence Davis is a Norm upgrade.

So is running a bunch of 2 PG Lowry/JVV sets

If we're trading for an upgrade, it better be a legit superstar. There's like 4-5 SG's in the NBA that are enough of an upgrade over TD-Norm

- Washington isn't trading Beal, not this season anyway.
- Jimmy Buckets isn't leaving Miami
- Doncic lol
- Donovan Mitchell isn't getting traded, Utah fancies themselves as contenders

and the rest:

- Devin Booker would cost a mint and probably isn't worth it
- D'Lo is probably available, but he isn't the type of defender Nurse and Masai is going to want. Dude can ball though.
- If Portland ends up punting, McCollum is probably available but for a mint (which is more than he's worth...) another guy that like D'lo isn't much of a defender
-Lavine is almost definitely available....I don't think he's a fit.
-Demar is a bad fit, like he was a bad fit for this style of ball before.

Thing is all our starters are very good 2-way starters.

And all our bench guys are good 2-way bench guys.

So yeah, unless we're getting a stud I don't see a need.

and Terrence Davis might, might be legit starter good by the end of the year. I make fun of Zeke a lot (for good reason), but he was way ahead of the curve on how good Davis might be already. I don't know if he's ready to adlib, create his own shots, anchor an offence, etc. But as a system player that can make a legit impact on both ends of the court, he might be there already.
