OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

Send him and GTJ back for their pick(s) + Simons or Sharpe + Fillers + TPE, Scottie can play Pascal's role, and we can free up some money to get more shot creators and better shooters.

The other alternative is bringing in a real superstar for a package based on OG or Pascal.

Yeah, Portland is definitely my preference. I just struggle to 2 team deal that works for salary there. It's gotta be a 3 team deal, but we definitely have the type of pieces to do a fast rebuild around Scottie, Shaedon, & the #3. That's elite young core type stuff.

I’m not sold we get Sharpe but Simons, Little and a 25 1st is probably enough along with Scoot

Can Scoot shoot?

No, but the form is fine. If he even becomes a league average shooter he's a prime Westbrook/Jah type weapon

27.5% from 3 in the G League last year, which isn't great obviously but is better than Kuminga, who is already an average or better catch a shoot guy at 20 yrs old despite ugly 3pt g league numbers coming into the league.

The thing is, Miller probably goes 2, to CHA because they have LiMello, and aren't a fit for Scoot.

The pick in play is POR and assuming the above statement is true, it's Scoot, who would be a legit good 1 overall in any normal year, would be there, and IMO is a slick smooth fit with Barnes

Most comps ive seen is Paul George.

Elite shooter, which OG is not.

I don't think he's the athlete PG is/was though. Early career PG was one of the most explosive athletes in the league. Miller isn't very fluid imo, a bit more robotic like OG. But 6'9 long bois with some handles and a can shoot is still an intriguing franchise prospect even if he's not an elite athlete.

The more I dig into Scoot, the more I adore him as a prospect. He has all the shit you can't teach and everything he lacks is shit that reps in the gym can get you.

I think prospect watchers make a bit too much of 17-19 yr old shooting stats in the G League. That's NBA 3 point range against NBA size/length opponents, it's a way harder shot to make compared to all of the spot up 3 point shooting from 3-4 feet closer in the NCAA.

I'm all in on team Scoot though. Super impressed with almost everything about him. Will be a top 3 athlete at the position the moment he steps onto a NBA court for the first time, built like a brick shit house, 6'9 wingspan, huge hands, exposive athlete with no fundamental ball handling weaknesses, elite elite as a slasher and finisher through contact, great motor most of the time, good defensive instincts, all the IQ of a fantastic floor general, complete fucking terror in transition, and he's got a bag that includes a mid range pull up off the dribble that is probably going to become that instant "create an open shot out of nothing" weapon that we just don't have enough of here. Pascal's step back is really the only shot we've had since Kawhi left where he can get a good look with it whenever he wants. Everyone else has to be open or work their dicks off to get a good look in isolation. Scoot's 1st step and elevation to either side creates so much separation that even at his height I don't think he'll struggle to find that late clock whenever he wants it.

He's a DWade/Russell Westbrook hybrid imo.

One of the key reasons I'm never on team tank is that you can't predict which seasons program changing prospects are going to be available in. Historically, you're way more like to get a Kwame Brown than you are a Lebron, Tim Duncan, KG, etc. But we've got an opportunity here to jump to the front of the line here on that. Scoot is a real #1 pick in most drafts. In the last 11 drafts, the only 1st overall picks I would have ranked ahead of Scoot as prospects are AD, Wiggins, KAT, Zion, and maybe Edwards. He's a prospect worth hitting the franchise reset button for, especially if we can get Shaedon in the deal (which we should be able to).

also, as a ball-dominant top-of-the-circle guy, those 3pt numbers aren't remotely the same as a catch and shoot corner 3 guy.

If not Shaedon at least Little and a future 1

And i know Simons cant D at all, but he's much better than the normal salary filler in a deal like this

Yeah, way more pull ups off of the dribble, step backs, and semi contested 3's from the wing rather than a 6'9 guy standing in the corner waiting for an open shot, definitely.
