I called out some of them as bad decisions as they happened, so I'm not sweeping them under the rug. I'm happy with the rest of his game though, and I think EPM/BPM are over valuing the impact of the turnovers, but neither is intended to be used in small sample so whatever.

Yeah, anyone who turns the ball over 5 times a game, every game, is unplayable. Someone who does it once, on an otherwise efficient night, meh.
 
but those turnovers were wild out of control drives that ended up with charges and bad passes. those are the same as bad shots. it wasn't an efficient night.
 
For what it's worth, Knicks fans who watched the game felt that RJ's turnovers/issues/puzzling decisions last night were pretty much the norm. They seem to hate him and were extremely frustrated by him. Like Raps fans with Gary except not nearly as bad. I guess the hope with RJ is growing into a more mature, more efficient player. Because he isn't that right now.
 
Trading Trent not only makes sense because he sucks, but also because we want to see what Dick can do at some point.

Spinning Trent+other filler into a good 3+D would be a nice trick.

Unless Otto is already that 3+D guy and we're just not playing him for some reason.

I wouldn't expect Dick to do much this year. He was pretty horrific in his G League stretch, I can't see him turning into anything that helps us this year and the start to his career has been so bad that we kind of have to recalibrate what we think of him as a prospect going forward.

As for Otto...man, I wish I knew wtf was going on there. Seems like a no brainer to play him as a spacer and solid enough wing defender but he DNP most nights.

Probably not. He's their first big off the bench to cover either Gobert or KAT.

If we're talking about dumping Gary and getting an actual player in return, I think we're kind of relegated to taking on a bad multi year contract from a team that just wants to clear the budget space. I don't think we're going to fool anyone into thinking he's good. If there ever was a time it was possible, that was 18 months ago I think. Maybe, maybe this past summer as well.

Eh, I don't think there's a point in trading most of those names if we're looking at bringing back meh stuff in return. Koloko is damaged right now and probably wouldn't pass a medical. Dick's value is probably so low at the moment there's no point giving up on him. RJ is fine, Dennis is fine. Boucher, Otto, Thad, McDaniels aren't really doing anything for trade package value imo.
