OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

What FA out there makes sense for what we can throw at them?

No one really. GH is right, best bet is to use it either now on another salary dump type move or use it to take on salary in a mid season Brown or Boucher trade. No idea who is likely to shake loose during the season but I'm alright with where we are. I wanted to see a more aggressive acquisition off season but the season was coming down to the growth of BBQ anyway. If 1st half Sct Brn is all year next year, post trade IQ and RJ stay the same or heaven forbid take another step, and we don't suck defensively....we're not bad.

If it does go poorly again, the 2025 draft is a fucking banger. It's the opposite of this year. There might be 3-4 guys at the top of the draft worthy of being #1's in a normal year.

Would have to double check but pretty sure today's moves open up a roster spot to sign Koloko when he's cleared.

Koloko being actually good would be pretty cool. And make a Poeltl trade much more doable.

And i know everyone keeps saying Chomche is years away......but i dunno he doesn't look that far off to me.

I think the question with Chomche is how much offense you think he has in him and if you think he has some untapped potential there, whether he has so much more value as a rim runner/shot blocker that you are willing to sacrifice a shot at him reaching his potential.

He's 6'11 250 so physically he's there, and can clearly be a young ibaka-like menace.

But offensively he's raw as shit.

Not too concerned about the offence for now , provide the D to alter shots and defend the post

oh i don't think there's any question about him starting in the D-league.

But from what I see the notion that he's years and years away seem silly.

I guess it depends on what you want him to be. If all you expect is the athleticism and defence, maybe 2 yrs...maybe maybe 1 in the G League.

If you want him to be a stretch threat though, he has to get reps in an environment where it doesn't matter if he's shooting 28% from out there. This year should really be the last season with minimal to no expectations on this group. BBQ is young, but not crazy young. 23, 24, & 25. Whatever they're going to be, we should at least start seeing it in stretches this season. By the time Chomche is up here, it's should have playoff (not play in) expectations. No gifted development minutes in that situation.

We are in a spot in our cycle where we should absolutley take all the time in the world with this guy. We can very much be in the market for guys 2 years away from being 2 years away
