OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

boucher and olynyk playing well in this one.

but they sat out to lose the last one. either a trade fell through or that was an ultra tank move.

If I put my conspiracy hat on, I think it's probably a bit of injury risk mitigation in conjunction with wanting both in front of a team's management that is in the market for veteran bench players. Clippers have been linked to Boucher in the past, and Kelly has been linked to a bunch of teams who might run into the Clippers in the playoffs.

Luka’s fitness will be an issue long term, but he has been very productive so far despite not being in the best shape. Anthony Davis has not always the best at staying healthy either, AD has played 63 or more games once since 2017-18. Luka being about 6 years younger than AD is a major factor for the Lakers and they hope they can convince Luka to get and then stay in better shape.

At halftime today, Cleveland 91-Dallas 46 🫣
No AD of course, since he is injured but Dallas is supposed to have a good defence without Luka and Davis.

AD's fitness has never been a problem, his durability has. Luka's fitness has flat out been a problem and most of his injuries have been wear and tear type groin/hammy/calf issues that would definitely be less of an issue if he played at 220-230 like every one of his 6'6 contemporaries instead of 250+. It's a lot easier to get away with carrying extra weight when you're young and Luka barely gets away with it now.

Now, I still think the trade is fucking stupid on multiple levels and that the Lakers got Luka for 50 cents on the dollar, but there is legitimate risk that Luka's combination of fitness and shit defence get in the way of him being the top dog on a title winner for the duration of his career. Being batman is hard.

Being da man requires full commitment and a great work ethic and desire to succeed

Kobe , Bron and MJ have that desire and determination to to win at all costs

Luca doesn’t put the game above all else

Serious question....

On a scale of 1 to "for fuck sakes", how shit would it be to finish top 2 in the east and then run into a healthy version of these Raptors in the 1st round?

I think the hill is too big to climb personally, and I don't think we're going to be as deep after the all star break...but man.

kyrie is an epic fucking loser who lebron made look good once.

anyways, it's crazy what a perfect fit Luka and Bron are. So so much better than the always awkward fit that Bron and AD were.

Lebron no longer has to be the primary ballhandler, there's gonna be way more room in the post for him to use his size and strength, and now he should have much more energy defensively.
