OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

I think Houston, Detroit, Boston , Cleveland or GSW would be seen as preferred choices

I mean, you're pulling this entirely out of your ass mate. Kawhi took meetings with us and the Los Angeles teams the last time he was a free agent. He wasn't entertaining shitty rust belt cities then either.

Leverage for what though? He's already a Clipper, saying that he would sign an extension with Toronto if traded there does what exactly? He would sign an extension for the Clippers too. Him suggesting that he would sign an extension elsewhere does nothing but raise his trade value because it's not a one and done.

Kawhi is using us for leverage, the leverage to get paid one more time. If the Clippers won't do it, he'll let us do it. I don't think it's that complicated.

"The Toronto Raptors will be the first call OKC takes if they make Cason Wallace available for trade this summer.

Cason could command an enormous extension and the Thunder already seem quite aware of how difficult accommodating another 35+ million dollar salary would be with Chet, Shai and Jalen Williams already on the books.

While their first order of business will be to dump Isaiah Joe and subsequently Lou Dort, they have some very expensive decisions coming up over the next two summers with Ajay Mitchell and Jared McCain.

Topic, Sorber, Stirtz and Mara will provide a cheap pause from eventual cap space hell, but a 35-38+ million Cason Wallace extension is just not happening without parting out the other 3 pieces.

The Raptors on the other hand who've spent 2 years chasing Derrick White and Jaren Jackson Jr attempting to provide Scottie Barnes with spacing and defense will absolutely be one of Cason's biggest suitors.

It sounds crazy to say that the Raptors would part with 3 or more first rounders to grab Wallace, but that's on the low end of average of what it would take to get Wallace here.

For Wallace, the fit is seamless. Toronto gives him a bigger role and opportunity, more chances to expand his scoring, reunites him with quite a few familiar friends, and puts him in the same city as his partner Kiki Rice who plays for the Toronto Tempo."

Raps don't have the flexibility to absorb his contract without sending similar money back. OkC just wants to clear salary at this point.

This is the kind of gift that you take and then figure out salary later. You have all year to get under the tax if you're trying to do that again.

Instead, one of the teams we're chasing just added an elite shooter so that what, we can see if Grady finally isn't shit?

The Raptors are operating over the cap, so I don't think they could make this deal without sending money back. Detroit is currently under it, by something like 25M. Raps need to match salary in any deal they make.

These guys have a blind spot for shooting, and think they can win their way, and they can vs mid or bad teams.

The top teams will crush this forumula though

It's funny because this isn't the model they used to win, and they appear to have learned the wrong things from the title team.

What made Kyle and Fred special at their size wasn't the defence and tenacity, it was the shot making. Without their shot making, neither become starter level players in the NBA. The lineup featured shooters everywhere. The entire rotation should stretch the floor, even Serge you had to respect at 17+ feet.
