OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

The Raptors are operating over the cap, so I don't think they could make this deal without sending money back. Detroit is currently under it, by something like 25M. Raps need to match salary in any deal they make.

If we're over, how is Detroit not over? They have over 70 million in cap holds?

The NBA salary cap is byzantine, so sure that could be it, but salaryswish has Detroit at 60 million over the cap.

They moved Stewart at the draft and got a huge trade exception I believe.

The cap mechanics, I vaguely understand, but the Raps are pretty handcuffed unless they trade dollar for dollar.

"The Toronto Raptors will be the first call OKC takes if they make Cason Wallace available for trade this summer.

Cason could command an enormous extension and the Thunder already seem quite aware of how difficult accommodating another 35+ million dollar salary would be with Chet, Shai and Jalen Williams already on the books.

While their first order of business will be to dump Isaiah Joe and subsequently Lou Dort, they have some very expensive decisions coming up over the next two summers with Ajay Mitchell and Jared McCain.

Topic, Sorber, Stirtz and Mara will provide a cheap pause from eventual cap space hell, but a 35-38+ million Cason Wallace extension is just not happening without parting out the other 3 pieces.

The Raptors on the other hand who've spent 2 years chasing Derrick White and Jaren Jackson Jr attempting to provide Scottie Barnes with spacing and defense will absolutely be one of Cason's biggest suitors.

It sounds crazy to say that the Raptors would part with 3 or more first rounders to grab Wallace, but that's on the low end of average of what it would take to get Wallace here.

For Wallace, the fit is seamless. Toronto gives him a bigger role and opportunity, more chances to expand his scoring, reunites him with quite a few familiar friends, and puts him in the same city as his partner Kiki Rice who plays for the Toronto Tempo."

35-38 mil Wallace WTF is going on
