I hope Silver makes an example of this. We all know that there was tampering to get him to the Clippers in the first place, but this needs to be a massive cautionary tale.

That also wasn't what Masai mentioned as an ask that was outside the CBA when he talked about Uncle Dennis asking for things they couldn't do. That was something else entirely, that Larry had done if Kawhi signed.
Sounds like this is explicitly covered in the CBA, so we're not going to get a repeat of the Joe Smith punishment in format but there possibilities are still pretty ugly here. First time offence is a 4.5 million dollar fine and the loss of a 1st round pick. So their 2030 pick would be toast. The player's contract can be voided and other penalties can be put on everyone involved. I wouldn't be surprised if Kawhi was suspended for something in the 40 game range, contract voided, Balmer banned for a year, Lawrence Frank banned for a year if he was involved and then the fine and pick loss.
Leonard's $28 million deal was to be paid in quarterly installments over four years, but it was not the only compensation Leonard received. According to a high-level source, Leonard also cut a side deal with Aspiration to receive an additional company stock.

So yeah....at what point is this not just cap circumvention but instead becomes financial fraud of some flavour or another? Because this sure looks like money laundering to me.
They are guilty as fuck. And Kawhi is stupid as fuck. Like seriously, the max you can get paid on the contract and all the endorsements aren't enough? Which fucking country are you trying to buy anyway?
We don’t know how many owners might be skirting the cap and we don't know whether this was a significant aberration in the NBA. We don't know how deep the
