• The Blue Jays are drawing heavy interest in their young catchers –Danny Jansen and Reese McGuire, both 24 – raising the possibility they could trade one for a starting pitcher with comparable ability and service time.
Jansen, the more popular trade target, is under control for five more seasons, McGuire for six. The Jays added a starter on Wednesday by reaching agreement with free-agent right-hander Tanner Roark on a two-year, $24 million contract.
I don't understand not taking anyone in the Rule 5 draft, it's a free look at a guy in Spring Training at the very least. That goes for all teams. It's unlikely you find anything but why not take the shot and trust your scouts and development.
Who are the premier free agent pitchers, who may be available next year?
Is ryu going to be with the money it will take to sign him?
Yeah, didn't we just pull Biagini out of it a couple of years ago? Who looked a hell of a lot like a decent late innings reliever until we tried to turn him into a bad starter and ruined him.
Nonsense. It will be significantly or opportunisticlyBut will they not make a move.....aggressively?

Exactly, find a guy that may fill a need and take a look. Every year teams just pass on looking at a free player just because they have to use a spot in their 40 man roster for a few months.
I mean, there were only 11 guys picked in the draft this year, so it's not like there's a lot of talent that changes hands in the draft.
Well that's what I mean, every team should be picking someone if they have room on the 40 man roster.
Blue Jays had more money on Porcello’s table, but he chose Mets
Not much issue with this one...he turned down at least one 3yr offer so that he could rebuild some value and hit the market again next year. Easier to do that outside the AL East
