OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Genuinely surprised they got this done. First evidence of a willingness to risk money on a legit FA in 5 offseasons. I hope it works out, not just so the Jays are better, but so they’re willing to do it again.

Very positive to see Vladdy looking in such great condition. The kid is going to be a gem, we all know that and now that he is taking his conditioning serious he is going to be that much better.

Stroman would be a solid #2 right now.

One thing is damn clear. This admin had an agenda to remove everything from the AA era (except Vlad hopefully) because with this signing it proves that the money is still there.

Spending that on a 33yr old indicates a willingness to compete.

But only brings the payroll up to $80m, which isn't competitive.

They should be willing and able to take on 2-3 more contracts of significance.

Stroman would look very good in this rotation right now.

Another starter and a CF would go a long way. Make a couple trades for Marte/Nimmo and Price or whoever else is available; team would look very interesting.

I'm shocked that they both got off of their wallets and lit their little risk matrix on fire.

I am not surprised at all . Team was a total gut job with a poor farm system in place

Needed some semblance of a framework in place before you start tossing money around

Team was a veteran contender that needed simple tweaks to remain at the top of the pile for a few more years and had 2 of the best prospects in baseball 18-24 months away. A poor farm system is ridiculously easy to fix in MLB, you hardly have to tear shit down for 5 years to rebuild the farm system.

There's no framework here, there's a 33 yr old injury prone top of the rotation guy signed until he's 36, some good kids and a bucket of shite. It's a slap together team that will be lucky to win 80 games with no clear direction.
