OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Nah. Goalie is totally different. Arguably the most important player on the team. More than enough protection to guard against predictable injuries. And the center of all the action. And at the end of the career, you’re generally in top physical form, unlike your other teammates.

Catcher you’re having 100 mph heat hurled at you with relatively little protection. Batter beside you fouling shit off your hands, your head, your balls. Players trying to destroy you in plays at the plate. And crouching for three hours or more every game, gradually turning your knees into mush and leaving you in the worst physical shape relative to your teammates at the end of the career. And all the glory is thrust on pitchers and the top mashers.

Catchers are involved in the game more, so I can see some guys who kind of want to be the "leader" out there and control the game want to handle that. But yeah, it's the physically most demanding position, and you don't really get the credit for what you do.

In non-professional leagues, pitcher is the best position. Most control of the game and when you’re not on the mound, you can play on the field somewhere else. There are lots of P/SS or P/CF at younger ages.

In pro ball, unless you’re Ohtani, pitchers are on the bench for 85-95% of their team’s innings. Great when you play, irrelevant almost all the time.

Catchers are the only position in on every pitch of almost any game. So it’s a great position.

Pitchers are irrelevant, catcher is great?

I can’t go for that, noooo, no can do.

Huh?

P are mostly irrelevant when they’re on the bench, which is 85% of the time (if you’re a 200IP/yr starter) and 95% if the time if you’re an average RP.

P is probably the most important position. It’s the nature of it that they start 1 out of 5 games, but the ball is in their hands that game for what, 95% of the team’s time possessing?

deGrom is back and is, as usual, insane. 1 hit through 5, 6K, and his ERA on the year down to 0.50.

Also Wander Franco is being called up. Probably the most exciting debut since Vladdy.

deGrom is just not human. The only flaw with him now is that he's a Met, and thus is made of glass. If he could just stay healthy and go deeper in games, he would have the best season in MLB history.

Wander will be big to watch. Switch-hitting Vlad who can play SS. Can't wait.
