OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Yea Ohtani is next level. Well deserved MVP.

2nd in voting is pretty unbelievable considering we were thinking Vladdy might end up an overweight DH type. Guy clearly put in work and it wouldn’t surprise me if he gets MVP next season.

The question is now, if Ohtani does this every year does he get rewarded again?
He should. Even a guy that is league average on both sides of the ball should be in the conversation for MVP, IMO just because his team essentially gets an extra roster spot. Shohei is an elite hitter and an elite SP. I don't know how a guy like that doesn't win MVP every year as long as he keeps it up. I think Ohtani's actually also one of the fastest baserunners in baseball FWIW.

yeah you really can't compete with a unicorn, which is what he is, in terms of value.

Yep. And not only is he amazing on both sides, he'd be even better if he focused on one. If Ohtani gave up pitching, he'd play in the field and probably have pretty significant defensive value considering his speed, arm, and athleticism. He'd also have more baserunning value, and better counting stats. If he gave up hitting, he'd pitch more innings and rack up more value. Not to mention the fact that he might just get better at whatever he decided to focus on.

Like Babe Ruth. Ruth was an elite hitter and elite pitcher and then he gave up pitching and became the best hitter of all time. Ruth was probably a really good defensive OF as well before he turned into a fatty. Played all three OF positions and had a cannon, obviously. I didn't think we'd ever see a guy like that again. It has been more than 100 years since Ruth was a two-way guy. Vladdy is spectacular, but it's not even close.

Wow, Las Vegas is like the Carolina Hurricanes and every struggling sports franchise out there like the Habs.

Your milkshake is no longer safe.

He's got a teammate who's better than he is when healthy. But the crazier part is that Ohtani wasn't even at his max. His pitching had some down games, he missed a couple starts, etc... if he can keep putting up 8 war seasons, he should keep winning mvp. Although if Trout goes back to his 10 war campaigns, it might be close.

MLB will have no issues letting them go. But Betteman still has the Coyotees in Arizona.

Because the only realistic relocation city at the moment is Quebec City and it will be a cold day in hell before Bettman allows a team to move there again. He only let Winnipeg back in when he was out of other options. He'll move the Yotes to Portland, Oklahoma City or Houston before he'll allow them to go to Quebec.
