OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Seattle wins. Can't count on these guys to lose a lot. If at all. Their opponents are some of the worst in baseball.

Four games left. Go 500 and you force Seattle to go 4-1. I could definitely see then pull that off .

Keep pushing. Go for 3-1 record and make them run the table.

Feels dirty cheering for the Astros, but I’m glad Tampa lost. If they could somehow both lose, that would be ideal.

We've got to assume the Jays will go at least 500 the rest of the way. Tampa can't reach us now even if they run the table.

So it comes down to the M's. Ray is pitching today and will likely beat the A's easily given the pitching matchup.

We NEED Gausman to step up and make a case for the #2 playoffs spot here. If he doesn't, we may be forced to sweep the O's.

That's a sweep! Weird math for an 87-win team to be 90-69 with 3 games left, but I'll take it.

Really happy to see Merrifield playing great right now. I thought that seemed like a sneaky smart move at the deadline to bring in a hit tool gamer who can play IF/OF with some questions about performance at 2B (Espinal) and health in CF (Springer). Got off to a terrible start here but hopefully has found his game at the right time.

Well that does it for Tampa.

A's up 4-0 in a Ray start. Would be a great result. We could lose the Baltimore series and the M's would have to sweep a four game series to catch up.

This Seattle team feels like what my favourite teams usually feel like. Close but no cigar.

Last week up 11-2 against KC they gave up 11 runs in a single inning to eventually lose the game by one run.

Today, with last year's Cy winner on the mound, they go to the bottom of the 9th down ten runs.

Now they have to sweep a four game series and hope for some help to be able to host playoffs games.

Jays should be favourites at home in that series.

Would love a Seattle loss in their next game combined with a Jays win. We could rest a whole lot of players including game #1 starter.

Jays have Gausman lined up to start game 1 in the wildcard series on Friday on regular rest. Or give him an extra day and he starts game 2.

Manoah’s next turn is game 162 on Wednesday against the Orioles. Hopefully that game is meaningless (Kikuchi) and Manoah can start game 1 in the wildcard.

Seattle losses are good in that they take the pressure off the Jays but bad in that they increase the likelihood of playing Tampa in the wildcard. Tampa gets to beat up on Boston to end their regular season. Seattle actually has a double header on Tuesday.

The Jays just have to take care of their own business. Win the next two and they’re out of reach.

From the sounds of it, Manoah will start game 1. No point to pitching him in game 162 just to maybe help get home field, when you can throw him game 1. Home field is not worth the downgrade from Manoah to Berrios.
