OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Rogers has given Atkins an unprecedented amount of money to spend on FA. That’s for sure. And I’m certain Rogers would not stand in the way of big-money long-term deals to their home grown stars.

So if Bo and Vladdy walk, that’s 100% on our Cleveland-school-of-risk-management duo.
 
Yeah, I don't get it. If we had a young SS that you could stretch to find a spot for, ok, maybe a good time to cash out? Or if it made sense to retool to get an expensive contract run out.

Odds are just people who know nothing wanting people to think they know something by shooting some wild stuff out there.
 
The only sensible thing i can come up with is these Bo trade leaks are coming from other franchises to make the Jays look like sellers in the eyes of free agents.

And honestly, it's a very dumb thought, but not near as dumb as dealing Bo 2 years away from FA while you are saying you still want to win and are in the middle of reno's and ticket price hikes, and Santiago as the SS with literally no SS FA available.

Maybe a year from now if you clusterfuck again, legit change the front office, and no extensions are in place you look to cash in and start over, but not now

I mean, maybe I could squint and see a deal with the Brewers, where we get someone like Adames plus one of their good young OF for Bo. We'd probably still need more on top of that, but Adames isn't much worse than Bichette, and adding Wiemer or Frelick to fill our OF spot isn't terrible, although I would imagine they would rather part with Wiemer and he was underwhelming in his rookie year.

Arguably it's the unsexy deal that both fanbases would probably hate, but both managements might consider. If you take the above as a base and they tossed in another depth arm, I could squint and see something of a deal. But Adames is only a year from free agency, so you really have to trust that Orelvis Martinez is the Jays SS of the future, or you're stuck digging in free agency next year for a key position.

Brewers are doing a tear down, zero chance they pay for Bichette, or the Jays accept 1 year of Adames in return as compensation.

You are going to get top 100 kids for Bo in any deal, so unless they are flipped for 1 year of Soto, or something, and then they go after some other SS? I dunno, seems like alot of stupid hoops to jump through.
 
I think I need to become a Braves fan if Bo is traded. Only world he should be moved in is if he requested it and said “I will never resign with you idiots at the helm” and then Rogers should just fire them and resign bo.
 
So the team ALL year can’t hit for shit and yet the only guy that consistently could hit and was easily their best hitter even when not 100%, is the guy they target as the one to trade 😂 this team man. Ohtani is not coming here, that’s just false hope floated by front office to media to get bad publicity and fans off their asses for the time being

Jeff Passan the latest to suggest Jays very interested in Ohtani, which even if i can bring myself to believe is genuine interest with a genuine contract offer north of 500M, i cant get to how Toronto ( or anyone else really) can offer more money or a better chance to win than the Dodgers.
 
To defend them a bit, they will also take calls on anyone (incl Bo) and it doesnt mean they want to move them.
