OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Now they have to pretty much make trades.

Sign Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Keep it going. Reports say he’s got ace potential. 25 years old. Yes please.

You knew it all along
I'm saying that I would have won either way. If he didn't sign with Toronto (which was what I assumed would happen) I win. If, on the off chance he actually did sign there, I would win when he inevitably was unable to lead them to a title, just like he couldn't in Anaheim.

The best thing for me about the Leafs' pursuit of ROR was that they either wouldn't get him at all, or they'd get him and still not win anything. I couldn't lose.

Oh so you're saying you didn't call it? Since you predicted both outcomes and all. Ah okay that makes more sense.

#FreeTrout

Seriously, free that man and bring him here. Want to show the fanbase we're serious and it wasn't just about Shohei, that's the type of trade you make.
this or keep offering the white sox and guardians newer and better packages everyday until one of them relents and you have either Luis Robert or Jose Ramirez

You make other bitch cunt fuck clowns look bad by comparison.

Signing Yamamoto would make it way easier to swallow trading Manoah or Tiedeman.

Take the White Sox to the cleaners. Eat the Moncada contract to get Robert. Get Eloy Jimenez for crumbs. See if he has some untapped upside. Could be a Teoscar power bat if healthy.

The remaining free agent options kind of aren’t that appealing. I’d be good with Bellinger if the years are right. Chapman too I guess.

I cant see a scenario where we out bid yanks, mets, red sox and dodgers

i suspect Rogers was convinced to go 500+ for Shohei for the money he brings in only, i doubt they go crazy for Yamamoto

Sounds like Yamamoto bidding hit $200m a while ago, some rumours suggesting it could be up to $300m now, for a guy who has never pitched in the majors. His stuff looks elite so he should be fine but that's a lot of money from a team that needs bats more than pitching. He also has many suitors, so unlikely we can get him anyways.

Let's talk about Cody Bellinger. He certainly rebounded last year and the surface numbers look great, but the advanced metrics were murky. What is a reasonable contract here? I would certainly consider 5-6/150 but when he's bad he's bad. A trade may be a better option but at least here we don't have to give up assets to get him.
