Will he do any better? He is currently the offensive coordinator or some shit isn’t he? How’s that look. Terrible. How long until Mattingly is the manager? Atkins and Shapiro spent $250M on this team, they obviously believe in the roster.
I would argue he's probably more dangerous as i think Schneider is a minion that they moved up with in the org to be part of a collective brain trust and follow the front office's game plan and their understanding of analytics ( much like Charlie)Will he do any better? What’s Cito up to these days.
Springer’s start is also a bit troublesome. His bat was just above league average last year and now it’s going to take a serious hot streak to get back to that level.
It's absolute insanity that he's still leading off, pure insanity. The babip is really unlucky, but a lot of the underlying stuff kind of suggests he's cooked. Average EV down, barrel% down to 6.6%. Line drive rate has tanked, ground ball rate way up. Peak Springer was pulling the ball 48% of the time with an avg exit velo of 88-89mph. 34 yr old Springer isn't getting around on the ball nearly as much (34%) and the avg exit velo is 87mph. Unless this is injury related in some way, or there's a massive time adjustment he just hasn't made (not uncommon for mid 30's sluggers to struggle figuring out how to time pitchers when their bat slows down a bit...some never figure it out though).
The really concerning bit though is that most of those numbers slid year over year for 2-3 years now. I don't think he's this cooked, but it's starting to look like league average is the best we should expect, even if this is just a slump.
