OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Still need to bring in a replacement for Romero, a #4/5 SP, and a legit bat, not to mention at least one other leverage arm in the pen as well. If they magically did all of that, they should be in a WC spot.

As it stands, ZIPS has the Jays with about 40 WAR, which actually could be like an 87 win team, if everyone stayed healthy and played to those marks. In reality, with off-days and small injuries, maybe 82-84. They really do need to find a way to add another 8-10 WAR to the team totals if they want to have a more comfortable shot at the playoffs.

They scolded AA for trading him among others and let’s see how much they spend to get him back. I bet they overpay and he’s meh to below meh as our closer
Yes, everything they do sucks and is the worst option available to them. I get it, we get it. Do you have anything else to add?

Jeff Hoffman was so good last year with multiple plus pitches, that there's been a lot of speculation some teams may want to turn him back into a starting pitcher this year. If we do sign him, I wouldn't mind giving that a try first. He can always be moved back to the pen if need be. Though it's certainly possible they want to use him as a closer right from the get-go.

Some speculation I heard earlier is that he's looking for a 3 year deal for somewhere around $30-$40M.

Honesty trying to turn Hoffman into an SP works for me. That's the slot we need to upgrade and he has a chance to do it. Gamble we need to take imo.

This is a solid move and assuredly Hoffman is going to be given the chance to start. I prefer this gamble than surrendering 20M+ and a comp pick for Flaherty or Pivetta.

That said, failing to extend Vlad and get at least one of Santander/Alonso/Bregman still makes this offseason garbage and these losers still losers
