The trick is still being mediocre at 35, which is hard and even then I don't see a lot of multi year deals going out to "mediocre" old relievers this winter at a glance.

I'm not saying you're necessarily wrong, but 45 guaranteed million for a guy who hasn't made much in his career so far would be a pretty good haul all things considered. Which is probably why he took their offer over ours to begin with.
