OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Vlad is very wrong about his value if he has a bad year. But that’s ok. Betting on himself in a contract year.

I wonder if Atkins would admit now that he misread the “sweet spot of shared risk” 4 years ago, now that we know more clearly what Vlad has become. Even if they do re-sign him, that philosophy cost the franchise hundreds of millions.

Yup , regime fucked up letting this get to this stage ....Trade him or extend him years ago

STFU and sign your deal

Some of y'all keep reacting to Vlad like the organization didn't slow roll the shit out of him this whole time and Vlad didn't watch us drag him through arbitration to keep him as cheap as possible for as long as possible while throwing 700 millie at other guys from outside the organization. Yeah, my loyalty to an organization would go out the fucking window in his situation as well and if he rakes again this year he will enter free agency as the marquee name on the market and no one will give a shit that he's a 1B. You all will be chirping all year only to watch him sign a 600+ million dollar deal elsewhere and will forget that we should be blaming the organization for slow rolling him through arby instead of locking him up when he was younger and cheaper.

100%.

But it’s too late now. If he’s not signing I think you move him. Of course these guys have no spine and will watch him walk at the end of the year for nothing.

Yeah, if he has a down year, he's looking at more like a 3-4 year deal with a bunch of opt outs, rather than whatever floor he has. If he has another MVP-like season, yeah, the price is huge. But there's definitely some downside risk.

thank god they weren't stubborn with loperfido. there is zero justification to keep him with the team. maybe he gets better in AAA but at 26 i'm not holding my breath.

Jimenez is tougher cuz he's definitely mlb quality but there's just no real room or need for him at the moment. Could to have as depth tho.

looks like 8 guys left for the last 4 spots.

Wagner's probably a lock.

Roden Schneider and Barger have all crunched the ball this spring.

but Lukes Straw Berroa Stefanic have all been solid too and provide more defensive value. and unless Roden can play CF we probably have to bring one of these guys.

yup, all of these guys have played well and are making it interesting. It would be great to see Loperfido succeed but this is the right move, he needs to show something first. Orelvis and Bloss sent down yesterday as well.

Wagner and one of the OF for sure. I'd love to see Barger make the team. Roden has been highlighted by management and played great, but not on the 40-man so he may have to start out in the minors.
