OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

A split with the O’s is a good result.

Not sure what they see in career minor league RP Easton Lucas that might get him into the rotation. Even in an opener role, it doesn’t really make sense. He’s not good.

They had to add somebody. Probably makes sense to get Bloss at least a month or two in the minors, though I wouldn't mind seeing him. They may end up going with Yariel, though he could be a helluva 1-2 inning high-leverage reliever as well.

I know it is super duper early, and nothing really matters at all right now (only the Jays loses), but... here are the Teams without a win to start the season (and just think how bad it would be to be their fans):

Detroit
Minnesota
Atlanta
Milwaukee

Yariel looks to be a better fit as a high leverage one inning guy, which makes the Yarbrough cut for Barnes/Lovelady all the odder. I guess they like Bloss, Lucas and Lauer more than we do.

Also, Springer might not be as cooked as thought, he's looked good so far and his bat speed is way up there to start the season

Savant has his bat speed back up to 73.9mph up from 71.9 last year (MLB avg: 71.5) but it has his swing length as longer as well. Which is kind of maybe okay. I've mentioned it ages ago when talking about the possibility of him ever bouncing back, but what's common with older hitters is that they make adjustments to get around not having the bad speed and reaction time anymore. They find a new timing mechanism and start their swing earlier. This is what part of that probably looks like. A longer, but harder swing. His K rate will probably go up, but a chance that so does his contact, quality of the contact, etc.

He's looking nice and, er, springy in the field and on the bases too.

And he should be able to get plenty of rest this year with our better depth so that would hopefully preserve him a bit.

If he can keep this up then he might be able to back up CF when varsho's back which could free us up to call up a guy like Barger/Orelvis/Jimenez if they deserve it.

He's
