OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

One thing in Bo’s favour is that he is a very smart and adaptable hitter. He makes swing adjustments within at bats all the time. To me, Bo has a better chance of aging well than most players, and I haven’t seen a convincing or remotely data-driven argument that supports the opposite view. The main issues for Bichette will be health and whether he can stay at SS for a few more years.

The bat will play at 2B as well...I mean if you're able to sign him long term, I'm sure the convo would include a timeline for transitioning to 2B at some point.

Since trade deadline:

We're a tippy top team for once in what feels like forever, more promising than the last really good squad, and we want to just let a key core piece just walk at 27 because he'd be expensive because he's been hitting the lights out all year? I can't believe this is even being debated.

Negotiate hard and just pay whatever the bottom line ends up being.

Just hope he stays elite for the first half of the contract and deal with the downside when it comes. Hell we could get lucky like we did with Springer and get an elite year when he should be having his worst. And Bo is way younger than George when we signed him. We've got ~110M of value out of Springer. A 2 WAR season next year is essentially the break even point. That's outstanding.

The team i think is the biggest threat to pay Bo as a SS IMO is Atlanta. Gaping hole there, and AA knows him well, but i have to think as long as Bo wants to stay this deal is easier to craft than the Vlad one, and with how they are spending, and how risky the dollars are being allocated there is no excuse.

Bo and Bieber, would be a tidy little offseason with a couple of RP thrown in

Atlanta seemed like a contender for his services (and still might be), but they just claimed Haseong Kim off waivers from Tampa, which means they take on his contract which includes a player option of $16m for 2026. Because he missed so much time last year and this year due to injury, most suspect he will opt-in.

They have the $$$ to sign anyone they want. I want a Dodgers-sized payroll.,

I would also want a real closer.
