Dude, MLB hitter numbers don't even start to statistically stabilize until like 1000 PA's.

.333 with a .431 babip is all anyone needs to know. A guy who has hit like .260 across his last 700 AB's in AAA didn't magically become the best contact hitter in baseball over his last 100 AB's.
 
just want to give credit to Shatkins, before we get started here, for fielding an actual playoff team.

I have shit on them profusely before because they deserved it, and so now they should be given what credit they deserve for making the playoffs.

If you judge them based on their offseason they should maybe be fired, but their past moves and drafting/development shouldnt go unnoticed.

I think regardless what happens in the playoffs though, right or wrong, they are getting extended.

On balance, I don't think they've done enough to warrant staying if they get pumped by the Yankees fwiw. We're on 10 years now. That's a fucking eternity in front office years. They've had 3-4 years with high end budgets now too. If they get dog walked by the Yankees, I don't see a 4-5 extra regular season wins this one time as their high water mark being a reason to keep them.

I dont 100% agree with you but you make valid points, but you are also smart enough to realize they arent going anywhere even if you're right and the ALE isnt enough, i suspct it very much will be.

When you invest over a number of years though you should definitely have expectations of getting some return. The Mets have done about as hilarious job with their budget splurge since 2020 as is possible and even then they've made an NLCS and have a 101 win season for their troubles over that period.

We're in year 3 of our spending increase and haven't won a playoff game or had a lights out regular season.

We've spent almost 700 million over the last 3 years and don't have a lot to show for it as of yet.

Eh best record in AL and 94 wins is on the low end of a lights out regular season
