OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

This is kind of what I was saying. MLBPA should be humming and hawing, and demanding concessions in other areas in exchange for this but to get a bigger pie (50% of BRR), and force the cheap fuck owners to spend is a huge win. This would be historic levels of tripping over their dicks if they're willing to lose a season to protect the small handful of guys whose next contracts would challenge the Shohei's, Soto's, Vlad's, etc. More money for more players, earlier in their careers. Huge win.

That owners package is going to come with some huge revenue sharing and reapportioning of TV revenue, no?

If they can collectively get rich teams on board with sharing tens or hundreds of millions of dollars, I guess go for it.

Will make it more difficult for the wealthy teams to buy their way out of a failure to develop players internally though. That includes the Jays.

This is the 99 vs 1% fight between multi millionaires

They are going to need a kid to deliver some innings for them if they are still in it in September, I think. The pen and rotation has too much fodder

Every time there is a CBA I feel like the Players and the Owners (some of them anyways) are trying to legislate a way to save them from themselves.

Personally, I care less about the cap than I do driving player prices up with your immense capital...I feel like the entire player salary structure is out of whack, there should be a way to average out the salaries a bit more so maybe Joe Schmo makes more than he would have but we don't have guys getting offered even double what the other guy got let alone one guy making 50 m a season while another is making 875 000.

Payrolls are high enough that you can have some of those gaps. But I think they really do need to solve the problem with the guys who come up late. Like Barger doesn't reach arbitration for another year, and then still has a few years of control, and then doesn't get his first FA until 3 years after, when he's already like 30/31. Or even more, a career minor leaguer like Lukes, he might not even really get a shot at FA before he's already basically out of the league.

It's not about the gaps for me, I just keep thinking of it as the Kyle Tucker scenario...you can't blame a guy for taking the coin but I can blame the doofus who offered it to him.

Bingo , need to fix that Barger tier of player

Players should be on the clock the second they are drafted like other sports and move into some type of free agency

Service time starting once your called up is ridiculous

Get minimum salaries in the 1.5 mil range
