OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

meh, the only thing I'm missing is Vladdy's moon shots and I can get those in a highlight package.

used to watch a ton of Jays. once upon a time I even owned a Dave Stieb jersey. enjoyed the hell out of the few years they were actually any good. but they lost me after the work stoppage in the 90s.

tbf I might be close to there with the Leafs too.. a lot about hockey in the Bettman era isn't helping either.

Ironically, baseball seems more boring now to me with a longer attention span as an adult.
Bettman has to go. He doesn't get how to sell the game. After almost 30 years it's time for a new vision.
 
I honestly watch very little other than highlights these days as well, just because other things have taken over life. But I don’t see this as a point of pride or like I’m somehow sticking it to the terrible management.

I sort of get it though, but the game is too good to stay away from entirely.

Probably due to 2 reasons (which they won't make public)

1) It would admit some form of mistake in constructing the team over the last 6 years.
2) It is VERY hard for Shapiro to trade prospects that people have talked about publicly (even though I am not convinced they'd have to give up anyone high-end).
 
I don't do baseball but I have a question for the folks who don't watch anymore. Do you not get any enjoyment out of having some exciting young players including one of the best players in the sport? I've had 0 faith and hated management for all my favorite teams at one point or another but if I got to watch a Matthews type of talent prance around for 82 games a season I would at least try to enjoy the fuck out of that!

This is why others said they needed to address the terribleness of the pitching staff in the offseason. I believe that your attitude was, why bother, they can just address it at the deadline.

You are seeing why that approach doesn't work.
