OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Roki Sasaki's going to be an interesting case. He decided to do what Ohtani once did, which was come over when he's really young, so he can't sign a big FA deal and will be treated like any other international signing. It's complicated, and every team has different amounts of money to offer based on a variety of factors, but as far as I understand it most teams have around $5m - $7.5m to offer to him and his Japanese team for his rights. Most teams have already "agreed" to sign guys, sometimes years in advance, which makes it even more complicated.

End result is that every team should be in on this guy. A lot of people think he'll go to the Dodgers (of course) because of the connection to Japan they already have, some think he may join the Padres since he idolizes Yu Darvish. But he could literally sign with anyone.

As I understand it he could technically sign now, but his team in Japan would have to post him, and the only leverage they have is to wait until January 15, when teams have more international money available, so we likely won't know anything until then.

He’s not becoming a Jay and neither is Juan Soto lol it’s all a leak and a ploy by management to try to squeeze out some excitement, season tickets and flex packs and to dispel any negativity about the team until it inevitably comes when they miss out again and fill with mediocrity

Taking a coach from LAD is probably never bad.

The entire concept of being "all in" on Sasaki is fucking absurd when every team is capped as to what they can pay him. We've also heard for eons about their work in the Asian market which has yielded exactly jack shit since they have been here.

Assuming it's not just about winning, and Sasaki is focussed on teams with a great track record working with pitchers we also dont really qualify either.

Sasaki is the easiest option to be all in on, since you're capped in what you can spend. The only caveat is whether the team has any IAFA commitments already that they might be willing to break.

So Sasaki can go to any team on a fixed salary ?

Then he goes through the same ELC / Arbitration process as others ?

They include making a video where he goes bird watching and is delighted when he spots a blue jay,
:ROFLMAO:

Clearly they’ve discussed playing together while gaming and training this summer, they’re best buddies and with the way Shatkins has treated Vlad with no extension, they’re probably saying where’s the best fit where we can all team up and get paid? Makes sense. Jays fans would be livid and I highly doubt they would sell many tickets for the foreseeable future.

Would be awesome.
