OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Cam Smith is a damn good prospect, but man that is otherwise a very underwhelming return. Just one year of Tucker though, and Astros obviously don't want to pay big bucks to impending FA's (let Springer and Correa walk in the past, and probably Bregman this year). So get something this time, I guess.
I like this deal for Houston

The draft already happened and they got the 8th pick, plus they have rules about top 10 picks in back to back seasons.

Here is a Google AI summary:

Major League Baseball (MLB) has rules that prevent large-market teams and teams that receive revenue-sharing from winning the top pick in the draft in consecutive years:
  • Large-market teams: These teams can't win the top pick in back-to-back years, and they can't pick earlier than 10th in back-to-back years. For example, the Washington Nationals were ineligible to participate in the 2024 MLB Draft Lottery because of this rule.
  • Revenue-sharing teams: These teams can't win the top pick three years in a row.

Bo gotta go
I agree. If we aren’t paying him and Vlad they should move both. SD moved Soto with 1 year remaining. Astros just moved Tucker with 1 year left. We see this type of move being made by proactive teams.

Too bad it’s come to this because I think we should pay them both.

Shatkins gotta go.

I agree with Bo going. I was against it 2 years ago but he’s all bat and that’s been inconsistent with being injury prone lately, however, the biggest reason is his attitude. I feel he’s checked out on this team long ago and his dad has told him to just hang on until free agency. Get value for him while you can. Vladdy needs to be locked up though or they’ll lose this fan base and their shiny new expensive seats will be empty.

I do think it's fair to let Bo walk, unless he's willing to sign a team-friendly extension which seems very unlikely. His type of free swinging tends to lead to early aging curves around 30ish, and his SS D is already subpar. So a 4 or 5 year deal as a second baseman would be great but there is zero chance he takes that right now. He definitely does not lack confidence.

Also, last year was so shitty in terms of performance and health that it makes sense for both sides to wait it out and see how he does. I do think a bounceback is extremely likely and he'll obviously be super motivated to make that happen.

There is no fucken excuse how the VLAD situation got to this point

If you dont think he is a cornerstone player or you dont want to pay a 1B big money , thats fine

This should of been resolved 3 years ago extension or a haul trade return .

These 2 fucks choked when it mattered but took too long to sort this shit out
