OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

i'd start him in AAA until he forces a call up. plenty of stuff for him to work on. he's only 23.

clement's defense made him a very valuable 3B and then there's other guys like Wagner and Barger and Vladdy who might contribute there too.

Vlad interested in Yankees? Like wtf, if you’re already talking about joining other teams then Shatkins needs to trade, other teams know this now though, so I guess there’s no point since you won’t get near market value. Idiots

He also has a first baseman a little worse than Vladdy who signed for 8/168 a couple of years ago. I guess his magic formula is not handing the player a blank cheque and asking him to fill in the amount.
AA gets ahead of the curve and inks before the shit hits the fan

Acuna contract averages 12.5 per year for 8 years.. Signed after his big rookie 20yr old year.

we've already paid vlad an average of 18m over the four years since his big 21yr old year.
Optics are different

Vlad comes from money while Ocuna grew up poor and got life changing money for him and his family

His next contract will be interesting if the Braves rip up his option years after 2026

It will not be 5 - 7 year rebuild. The playoffs are easy to make. Blind squirrel, and all.

But in all Seriousness, the "rebuild" will be pretty quick. They have tonnes of money coming of their cap in a year or 2. Something like $88m committed in 2026 and $55 mil committed for 2027.

You can buy a lot of overpriced FAs for that.

But in reality, there will be some cheap salary dump acquisitions.
What … playoffs are not easy to make in MLB , this isnt the CFL.

Oh I agree with you 100%, but in minimizing The Jays/Shakins success in making the playoffs 3 out of 4 years 2020 - 2023, I was told that MLB is the easiest play-offs to make (I think the extra wildcard makes it super easy, barely an inconvenience supposedly) especially if one spends over $200 million on one's payroll.

So I guess take it up with the Make Blue Jays Great Again crowd 🤷‍♂️

Not fair to compare us to a team with one of the best GMs in the sport…..how could we ever compete with a team that has Anthopoulous at the helm? Team has ann exec like that, they never let them leave.

….for us to ever have someone like that leading the Jays, they’d have to be Canadian and have come up through our ranks. Never gonna happen.

You need home grown players plus financial resources , Jays dont have that next wave ready to take over

Sure, let's look at the Jays "success in making the playoffs 3 out of 4 years"

Playoff games played 2020-2023 (playoff wins)

Houston - 53 (34)
Tampa - 28 (12)
Texas - 17 (13)
Yankees - 17 (7)
Red Sox - 11 (6)
Cleveland - 9 (4)
Minnesote - 8 (3)
Oakland - 7 (2)
CHW - 7 (2)
Jays - 6 (0)
Seattle - 5 (2)
Orioles - 3 (0)
Detroit - 0
KC - 0
Anaheim - 0

There you go. That's how successful the Jays were at "making the playoffs 3 out of 4 years". Calling that mediocre would be kind.
