France needs a proper midfield. Rabiot, who I don’t rate, and Tchouaméni were too few and chasing shadows. Asking one of the front four to track back is pointless, their attempted 4-4-1-1 became a reckless 4-2-4. Doué was MIA on Spain’s 2nd goal.

Deschamps was too loyal to guys who were with him for the last 12 yrs like Digne, Kante and LHernandez. Why bring the last 2 and not play them. Rabiot is meh

thanks Captain Obvious re figuring out Spain, but the weakness of France's defence is overblown, sure they aren't Thuram and Desailly or Varane and Umtiti but Kounde and Saliba are decent enough. Left back was a problem and I would have played Theo Hernandez over Digne and he would not have allowed Yamal to own him, or if he fouled him like on the penalty, he would have broken Yamal's leg or made him a eunuch.

let's be honest, Yamal knew what he was doing....he wasn't going for the ball, but rather for the call. Very disgraceful play because he knew he would get hit somehow by Digne, but hey, it won his team the game.

VAR would have been useful in moments like this.....the whole world saw on the replay that this doesn't merit a penalty. It's like diving in front of a slapshot and getting hit by the stick in the face. Not sure the refs would call it a highstick....

Zizou can implement a more traditional 4-3-3, but he needs to find that middle 3.

Yep....he knew exactly what he was doing....shameful, but like i said, his team won and nobody will remember this play when Spain lifts the trophy in 3 days
