I hadn’t thought about this.
Makes sense that they would want to leave a way for the bulk of the Russian civilian colonists in Crimea to flee back to Mordor before they blow the bridge.

25 % of the Crimea was Ukrainian before the war started. So in reality attacking Crimea is like attacking Russia.

Like large portions of Ukraine in general, especially in the East. Hell, Zelensky is a native Russian-speaker.
Doesn’t automatically make them “Russian” though. And when I speak of Russian “colonists”, I’m referring to the upwards of 200K to 1M people from Russia that have been resettled in Crimea since the annexation, in an attempt to cement Russia’s claim.

There is a certain irony in referring to crimea as 'Russia' when it was put into the administration of Ukraine in the first place entirely because the Russians making up the centre of power in the USSR found it to be ungovernable for them.
Also, to be very clear. 'Russia' is not the Soviet Union, regardless of how much the Kremlin wants the two to be interchangeable in people's minds.
