Can't use it as leverage with the transactional Trump if you're already doing it. European political back room conversations have been fixated on the potential return of Trump for 2-3 years now. They're going to be prepared to play the flattery and transaction game he lives by.
Europe is going to push him into backing Ukraine by making it more valuable to him than Russia's friendship and flattery is.
