OT: World Politics

Sounds like every argument I've ever had with Count about the war in Ukraine. He won't openly say that he's rootin' for Putin; he just says that resistance is futile and that Zelenskyy is actually a despot.

The G7 meeting is scheduled for June in Kananaskis.

Will it…

1) Be the last one, but not before Dotard talks about oil and the 51st state
2) Limp along, with Vance as the US rep demanding Russia replace Canada, which shouldn’t be sovereign anyway
3) Not happen at all, the US delegation just won’t show up
4) Be something else, completely f@cked in the head, that I can’t imagine

I’m leaning to 2 because it has maximum troll value.

5) Cancelled/postponed to then never happen

It's high time the rest of the purported free world started meeting together without the US, understanding that the US is now on the other side.

At this point, seeing as the next summit is in Canada anyway, they should rescind the United States’ invitation to the event.

Then it would be nice if Canada and the other five nations formally announce that they’re booting out the US. And maybe invite in some new liberal democracies, like the Nordic countries, New Zealand or South Korea for example.

Meanwhile, MAGA-land can go off and form their own new G-whatever with Russia, Saudi Arabia, Belarus, Hungary, Argentina and whatever the fuck other countries they can round up that are run by fellow fucking ghouls.

My hopes for this fantasy scenario are low, though. I don’t really have any expectation that our fellow democratic allies will make any significant moves to stand up to the US or take Canada’s side in a dispute with the US.

Trump would need a special visa to enter Canada anyway, as he is a convicted felon

I actually worked at the 1988 G7 in Toronto as a media relations officer. Got to see Reagan, Thatcher, Mitterand up close, met Mulroney, Milan, Joe Clark, as well as all the media types like Sam Donaldson, Mike Duffy, Mansbridge, and Wendy Mesley (who in 1988 was smokin' hot)

Count is the Neville Chamberlain of this board.

Neville Chamberlain Is someone else that I couldn’t look up to.
No, Count is Vidkun Quisling, not Chamberlain. Chamberlain was motivated by the noble desire to avoid war. He had seen what the Great War had done to a previous generation and he wanted to avoid bloodshed. He was, in many ways, duped by Hitler. But he acted from a position of honor.

Quisling was nothing but a collaborator trying to save his own ass and preserve his personal convenience. Count doesn't care who runs this country as long as his next trip to Disneyworld isnt compromised.

I still can’t “look up” to him.
