It’s gross, but is there any scenario in which the centre/left give Bibi cover so he can ditch the extremists? I mean, maybe it’s arrived at that point.

Problem is that hard core extremists might snake out and the violence turns inward.

Just as with the evangelicals in the US and Brazil… once you make a deal with them, good luck keeping shit sane. 🫤

I think the answer is yes, but...

Yes, the centre/left would support Bibi in implementing a ceasefire. HOWEVER, Bibi seems unlikely to do that because then the centre/left can bring down his government. He'd lose the zealots and be at the mercy of Lapid or Gantz, which he does not want.

so while possible, I doubt it happens for Bibi's own survival reasons

yup. huge, huge risk. Israeli society is (and has been) fraying at the seams on this issue for a while, and Bibi seems intent to push it to its very limit, or further

yup. the whole Gaza conflict Bibi has been placating and appeasing the fucking extremist zealots in his coalition more and more. and here we are in this fucking humanitarian disaster and shitstorm.
