OT: WWE/MMA/Boxing Thread

UFC needs to make some changes. Clinching for 30 seconds before even trying to advance position should have the refs breaking them up. It taking 2 minutes on the ground to advance position is just boring to watch.

Crowds are getting dumber since came back. So much booing

What exactly has happened in the last 3:30 of the fight until 4 seconds of rabbit punching at the end?

and you don't need to explain to me the technicals of Burns slowly and surely advancing position, I'm familiar with them. But if it takes you 3:30 to advance position enough to generate offence with it, that's boring.

Burns wins on the strength of takedowns that he generated no offence with.

Those are the rules, but they're bad rules imo.

its a tough one to balance - cause that’s part of fighting (Joe Rogan is super passionate lol) - but then entertainment factor. Two different things. Generally I don’t believe refs should get involved either unless it’s like they are resting instead of fighting.

I’ve believed Dana needs to use $$$ even more so to create and breed knockouts and submissions instead of ppl playing it safe. Then back that up with rankings, ppv showings etc being influenced based on how you win.

Like all stoppages gets you paid. And something more life changing than $50k - imagine getting $150k for fight of night, submission of night etc and that’s on top of $50-75k for any type of stoppage?

It's part of fighting, I agree and I don't want to see it eliminated. But what I do want to see is immediacy out of the wrestler trying to engage in it whether it's the clench or top control. Too often it's used to rest in, to grind on your opponent, etc and isn't actually used to generate offence from.

Khabib should be considered the gold standard imo. You knew grappling was coming but he pretty rapidly started advancing position and was shortly generating offence with his positional advantage. If grapplers were put under more pressure by the rules to rapidly advance position, and from position generate offence, with the risk of losing the positional advantage they've worked for, they would work faster, it would be harder and you just wouldn't get these situations where a guy slowly burns 3:30 after getting clipped twice.

Stream cut out with 40 seconds left in the 1st and Dustin laying a biblical shit kicking on Conor....

Broken ankle I'm reading online?

Conor stepped back awkwardly on his leg when they were swinging at each other, and badly snapped either his ankle or his shin.
