OT: WWE/MMA/Boxing Thread

Volk’s whole career goes differently if they give max the W. He still would be great - but would never be in the goat convo. Max would have likely gotten another 3-6 Ws (based on how he keeps beating all the contenders that would have fought him as champ) and then Aldo and him would have had a comparable resume. Maybe later Volk comes back and then beats him like he did in that third fight (or not as the mental warfare is very different if max got the win).

Aldo is a stud and right now the best of the division. Think max could have given him a run for his money as the best of that division if they gave him the nod against Volk. In fight 1 or 2. Though argue Max can still make a run for Aldo if he can quickly win the belt back and got on a run from age 32-35. Stupid of him to take the ufc 300 event

That was a great card. Topuria looked the part of a champion. Exciting to see so many new possibilities for fights. It’ll be interesting to see who they setup for UFC Spain.

So, today in combat sports, we've got a full plate of stuff, notably:

Bellator-PFL crossover, champ vs champ fights
UFC Fight Night

I personally can't wait for the Bellator-PFL card, which rivals any regular UFC card & blows all of their fight night cards out of the water.

But in the more juicy parts of MMA:

The UFC has asked managers Ali Abdelaziz, Jason House, Josh Jones, Dan Lambert & Ed Soares to testify for them. Those are five of the most notable managers in MMA, who directly feed the UFC machine with their large roster of fighters. Imagine that, the managers who should be looking out for the best interest of their clients, the fighters, are standing on behalf of the promoter to explain why they're not fucking the fighters. Hilarious.

Also, the UFC asked Michael Bisping, Chael Sonnen, Michael Chandler, Miesha Tate and Donald Cerrone to testify on their behalf. The funny thing about this, however, is that none of them opted out of the plaintiff's lawsuit and they are technically part of the lawsuit against the UFC.

Points to a Max build up - which I want more. Odds are Spain wouldn’t be until Aug or October - lots is time for max to heal.

Some news that make me incredibly sad this morning. One of the rare sites that does real sports journalism is gone. Some group has bought it & laid off all of the staff.

All posts by Karim Zidan, John Nash & Anton Tabuena, who have all been instrumental in bringing to light a lot of the problems in MMA, have been deleted. The only way to access them is with those sites that have archived everything online.

Also for anyone interested, tomorrow's a hell of a day in combat sports.

Glory's Heavyweight Grand Prix & UFC 299. There's a chance that tomorrow is Dustin Poirier's last fight, especially if he loses to Saint Denis.
