Pretty terrible game from nearly everyone. Too many muffed passes when there was no one available (or ready) to rotate back. Too many times Canadien players cut across the ice unmarked - the score could have been much worse. I’m assuming we’ll see Bussi next game. I’m not sure that would have made any difference - give the Habs a clear path to the goal on a breakaway and they’re going to score at a pretty high percentage. This was a team failure. Only in the 2nd period did the game look like Canes hockey. I think we’re in trouble, but I hope we can turn it around and use the forecheck more effectively to keep it in their end.
That was a rusty, discombobulated team. The 2nd was a dominant period and gratefully the 3rd wasn’t as bad as the first. I expect better on Saturday.
The Canes need to stay out of the box and they cannot play a run and gun style— the Habs swarm better than we do. This idea that they’re a young team is a fallacy— they’re seasoned. Dobson and Hutson are talented.
The Canes have to play a more cohesive game— pressure, pressure, pressure. Ehlers, Aho and Svech need to start contributing offensively.
