Playoff GDT: Round 3, Game 2 Canes v. Habs 5/23 7:00

really? I don’t think I saw anyone here saying it would be short, or underestimating the Habs. You might have said 6 or 7 games but you certainly weren’t alone in thinking it would be a tight series.
It was a point, not an accusation, for crying out loud

Here’s the bigger question, why no accountability or reprimand for so called veteran officials that continue their game management bullshit by totally ignoring the rules of the game to fit their own agenda? Andy posted it last night, the rulebook clearly states how easy it is to interpret the rule on spearing…that was about the easiest spearing you’ll ever get, a pitchfork to the nuts, to review that with the league and still call that a slashing minor is just making a mockery of everything from the rules of the game to your league review process.
Well, I doubt we’re going to see anything during the playoffs … in fact I don’t think any of the refs who have missed those spearing calls were even kept from advancing to the conference finals. Sutherland almost certainly will work the Finals. He usually does. Because as pitiful as he is, he’s still one of their “better” refs.

And, big picture, I’m more concerned about integrity than anything else. They could blow one that benefits Carolina in a big way eventually. Probably will if the Canes hang around long enough. For me this is not about one team getting an advantage so much as it is about refs running around making up their own rules on the fly, based on their own inclinations. That’s bad for the game, not just the two teams on the ice at the time.

Sutherland has worked 10 finals but neither of the last 2. He had a run of 8 of 9 between 2015-2023, only missing 2017. Dwyer has worked 3 finals but none since 2022. Last year was Charron, Hebert, McCauley and Rooney. Charron and Hebert worked their 3rd Final, Rooney’s 8th and McCauley’s 11th
