PLAYOFF GDT: Series 1 / Game 1: @ Toronto, Thursday, May 20th 7:30EST

We likely have little chance but people said that in 1984, 1993, 1998, 2002, 2004, 2014 and 2020. Key is to hit Marner and Matthews all the time. For some reason we can control McElbow but have trouble with Pig Nose. Not sure why that is. All the pressure is on the Leafs, no series win in 17 years, big favourite, literally no one has us winning the series. We do need to stop giving up a goal to them on the first shot of the game as happened 3 or 4 times this year. If we can grind out a win in the first two, we could make it tough on the eventual Stanley Cup champions. At least I have TVA Sports so I won't have to watch 5-7 Leaf home games where the opponent is never mentioned.
Yep, need to take Matthews out in the first 10 minutes, wish Romanov was playing.

nah the Leafs were a dominant team at evens basically all year. won a TON of games where the opposition had a better tender than us (see: Andersen, Fred aka the muffin man).

think you need the combo of 2011 Carey Price and dominance on special teams.
You do realize what I said at the beginning of the season came to fruition right? That it would depend on the head-to-head matchup.

Habs 2-5-3

Leafs 7-2-1

Flip those and the Habs are in first. The Leafs were clearly the better team this season.

Speacial teams for the regular season FWIW:

PP:
Leafs 16th, 20%
Habs 17th, 19.2%

PK:
Habs & Leafs tied at 23rd, 78.5%

Not sure if true, but it has been said Danault did not allow McElbow or Matthews 5 on 5 goals this year
I mean I don't know how it breaks down by matchup, but Matty has consistently lit up the Habs in his career. This year included I believe. But Danault is a very good defensive centre.

I mean I predicted the Habs to finish in second in the division... I clearly overestimated them if anything (in fairness, that was Julien-inspired prediction).

But I don't think anything in your post actually disagrees with anything I said, so carry on...

It'll be interesting if the Leafs decide to try to match the physicality or just try to play their game as this goes on.
