Rumors: 2024-25 Season

not worth the risk to his legacy.....

Only by winning a cup elsewhere would he NOT tarnish his legacy......staying put is the best option for him....play out the 2 years and retire.....he's got nothing more to prove....unlike guys like Bourque, Iginla, who needed to go elsewhere to try and win

Guys like Yzerman, Lemieux, Sakic never left.....I see Crosby taking their path.....

This.

This is absurd. Crosby's legacy is set in stone. He could only make it bigger by bringing a Cup elsewhere.

I don't think it's absurd. Many stars have stuck it out to only play for one team. I can see Crosby doing so also and there is no way they ask him to waive his nmc. It would have to be his decision to leave.

I'm not saying it's absurd to stay... It's absurd that his legacy would be tarnished if he left Pittsburgh.

I get why he'd stay in Pittsburgh... But the reason isn't that he's worried that his legacy will be tarnished.

The only thing that could possibly tarnish Crosby's legacy is if he were to blindly go Cup chasing with random teams like Hossa and Bourque did. If he comes to Montreal it's not about chasing glory but merely ticking a box and playing for his childhood team. Doing that won't tarnish a thing.

It's not the same as what Tavares did. Tavares had no legacy to protect or preserve when he signed with the Leafs. He was a loser on Long Island and he's still a loser, just with a different team. Crosby is a legend and a winner. That won't change if he becomes a Hab for a year or two.

Crosby's the only player on Pittsburgh's roster I would give up significant futures for.

Everyone else, eh... I mean, if the asking price isn't all that high, I could be talked into it.

Whats your trade offer for Sid
Assuming Sid even would consider Mtl:

Habs 1st unprotected + Roy / Davidson

Sid decides where he wants to go + very limited # of teams able to fit his AAV - so # of destinations will be extremely limited and Pens will have no leverage

Would be something for once if Sid were to pull a Panarin / Fox and limit his destination to Mtl.

Habs first plus calgary's first plus roy / davidson

I do the deal. Crosby in Montreal would be a great sight to see. Not looking like we're getting much this year anyway. Or I give them next year unprotected. We're not getting McKenna.
