More so than that, Saad and Shaw are both under $1M a year this season with Shaw going to $2M next year. They need these players to fit under the cap with all their high-priced players on the roster.

In order for the Hawks to take on Plek's salary they would need to trade Bickell's $4M per and I do not want Bickell at that price tag.
