Series Preview … ECF: Carolina vs Montreal

This has been the most bizarre of the Dundon/RBA playoff runs. You go to 2 home games which the Canes win, then you don't see them play another home game for over 2 weeks. It almost like they are not even in the playoffs at times.

Canes have all of the usual advantages in this series.

* Depth that just cannot be matched in the Eastern conference.
* Relentless puck pressure and significant possession advantages
* Stout defense and excellent penalty killing that quickly can transition to SHG chances.

Then add Freddie to all of that. He has not been just good, he has been spectacular.

The narratives regarding why the Canes are not worthy of trust to win this series are tiresome. Freddie always chokes. The Canes always choke. The Canes haven't beaten anyone good. Habs won all 3 regular season games. Dobes is the second coming of Dryden and Roy.

Enough is enough. This Canes team is really really good. And everyone here, the fans and players and coaches, are flat out sick of hearing about this reason or that reason for why we are not going to roll over another lesser Eastern Conference opponent.

Canes in 5.

The silly thing is that the “haven’t beaten anyone” thing ain’t going anywhere even if the Canes win this series. You’ve got three Division winners and 3rd in the Atlantic Montreal and that’s enough for the idiots to keep up that rant. It’s complete BS, of course, because one of those Division winners had 95 points to win the Charmin Division, while Montreal had 106 points in a proper Division that produced 5 playoff teams.

I don’t see that, beating a team that just beat the second and third ranked teams isn’t a gimme.

Ottawa and Philly were not Tampa, Buffalo or Montreal but you can only play the teams that they tell you to play.
