Another reminder of just how frustrating it is to see your club hamstrung by FFP regs (and even fined for failure to comply) while Newcastle and others just trod all over the place doing whatever. Meanwhile Villa REALLY need to sell a home grown guy again to have any room to maneuver this summer ... or even to keep a couple of mainstay players. But all the talk this week, from what I've read, has been about the "intertwined" fates of Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike. First Liverpool were offering a massive amount (somewhere between £130m and £140m). Then Newcastle were supposedly set to be in for Ekitike to partner (replace?) Isak at about £70m or so. But when Newcastle reportedly underlined their stance from earlier this year about extending, and not selling, Isak, Liverpool submitted a bid for Ekitike for about £80m. They are reportedly "close" to striking that deal. So, it appears Isak is staying. But who knows for sure?
For a club that didn't have any European football last year, and only once in the last 10+, FFP rules (or whatever they're called) will make paying for Elanga, Isak and any other potential signing difficult. Selling Isak would help them sign others. So who knows what lays in store for them?

Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike: What has gone on this week?
After a hectic week, Newcastle look to have fended off Liverpool's interest in Alexander Isak, with the Premier League champions turning to Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike.www.bbc.com
But that was my point, above: Liverpool's spending has them well within PSR because of previous windows' spending (mostly, a lack thereof). Winning the league (remember, every league position helps) and playing in Europe helps. As does the new kit deal they signed with Adidas. And the expected sales of Nunez and perhaps Diaz would help even more balancing those numbers. Newcastle doesn't have that luxury. That's why there was speculation they would consider an Isak sale, to fund other purchses. PSR affects them, too.Another reminder of just how frustrating it is to see your club hamstrung by FFP regs (and even fined for failure to comply) while Newcastle and others just trod all over the place doing whatever.
