Canada's lineup for their opening game against Finland.

Rehkopf, Mynio and Bjarnason the scratches.

Canada up 2-0 after two.

Cowan with the goal off a turnover in the offensive zone.

Pretty dominant performance so far, despite only holding a two-goal lead.

Canada wins 4-0.

Pinelli and Schaefer (EN) with the goals in the third.

Big props to Carter George and the PK in the latter part of the third period.

Day 1 Results:
• Sweden 5, Slovakia 2
• USA 10, Germany 4
• Czechia 5, Switzerland 1
• Canada 4, Finland 0

On draft day I preferred Sandin-Pellikka or Leonard as my choices if we foolishly passed on Michkov. So I lost twice. Hope the Habs didn't, by taking Reinbacher.

Maybe you can't have too many smallish, offensive defencemen (Hutson,Sandin-Pellikka). But its better than drafting a guy who doesn't end up contributing at all.

Jack Ivankovic gets the call for Canada tonight.

He'll be the first 17 year old to start in net for Canada since Jimmy Waite in 1987.

Canada going with the same lineup tonight against Latvia.

Should be a good game to work on their power play, which was not good last night.

Canada leads just 1-0 after two periods.

Luchanko (SH) with the goal.

Just can't get anything going and the power play still looks awful.

Canada's insistence on making their team like an NHL roster will always be hilarious to me.

You know three players who might be able to make a difference, but never even got an invitation? Landon Dupont, Carter Yakemchuk and Michael Misa. The five players leading in points totals in the OHL are all eligible for Team Canada, but only Porter Martone's on the team.
